The Empire State Building will shine red, white and blue in honor of the Peace Corps’ 50 Anniversary.
Peace Corps was officially established on March 1, 1961. Since then, more than 200,000 Peace Corps volunteers have served in 139 host countries to work on issues ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation. Today, there are 8,655 volunteers and trainees in 77 countries.
